I've been giving financial advice since 2003 — first in South Africa, and across New Zealand since my family settled here in 2018. Yes. I'm a Financial Adviser (FSP 605149) giving advice under JV Financial Services Limited's Financial Advice Provider Licence (FSP 701371), issued by the Financial Markets Authority. I'm also a member of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), an international mark of excellence in the profession.

What does it cost to work with Jan?

My advice costs you nothing. I don't charge clients any fees — I'm paid a commission by the insurer when you take out a policy, and I'm always upfront about that. Your first consultation is free, with no obligation.

Are you tied to one insurance company?

No — I'm an independent broker. Rather than being limited to one provider, I source cover from a range of major and specialist insurers, so the policy fits your needs and budget instead of the other way around.

Where is Jan based — do you only work in Tauranga?

I'm based in Tauranga, Bay of Plenty, but I work with clients right across New Zealand, on both islands. Most things can be handled by phone or video, wherever you are.

Yes — I provide a free Will with every risk insurance policy, so your cover and your legacy are sorted together. It's part of making your financial planning genuinely complete, not just a policy on paper.

Can my children be covered?

In most cases yes, and often at no extra cost. When you have your own life cover in place, your children are typically covered automatically up to a set amount while they're young. I'll walk you through exactly how that works for your family.

Do you advise on KiwiSaver and investments?

Yes. I provide general advice on KiwiSaver (including the Generate KiwiSaver Scheme) and on investments, and I help you see how they fit alongside your cover. Your KiwiSaver balance is part of the bigger picture — sometimes it can even reduce how much life cover you need, and I'll help you plan that properly.

Do you help migrants, including people moving to or from South Africa?

Absolutely — it's close to home for me. I moved my own family from South Africa to New Zealand, so I understand what it takes to set up cover and protect your family in a new country. I also help with financial emigration: my team can assist with Reserve Bank clearance and releasing retirement annuities so your money can move with you.
